Members News and Notes




The blog will post art news and information about our members. If you have won an award, were juried into a show or have some other success your information will be posted. For the shows where many members enter, only the event, artists name and one picture will be posted. 

Information:  
Congratulations to  Deborah Lovelace Richardson. Her painting at the Delaplaine Gala was sold at the auction after some active bidding. 

Sheryl Massaro is exhibiting her work at the Yellow Barn, The show is May 4-5 12-5pm, closing reception 4-5pm Sunday,  May 5, for Walt Bartman's Student Show from Bahamas, Cuba, Maine, Tighlman. yellowbarnstudio.com

                                                                  

Sheryl has also been juried into The 2013 Annual Juried Show at the Delaplaine, reception May 4, 3-5 pm. Show runs from May 4 to June 23.
                                       
                                                              

Audrey Farnsworth has been  been juried into The 2013 Annual Juried Show, at the Delaplaine reception May 4, 3-5 pm. Show runs from May 4 to June 23.
                                                                    
      

     
The Adam's County Arts Council's Annual Juried  Art Exhibition has selected Audrey's work along with 50 others for their show. The reception will be Friday evening, June 7, between 5 pm and 7 pm  at the Schmucker Art Gallery in Schmucker Hall, Gettysburg College, 300 N. Washington Street, Gettysburg. The exhibition will be open May 31 with Tuesday - Sunday hours of 10 am to 4 pm and will continue until July 7.

                                               



Marie Riccio is exhibiting her work through May at the Artists Gallery on Church Street.  Reception is May 4 and they are open Friday - Sunday each week.

FPAA  Paint-outs and Shows  2013 for Members

     May 1st and 8th ……PennTerra. is a Georgian farmhouse near Thurmont, Maryland. The house is notable for its locally quarried stonework and its unusally fine proportions. It was built in 1783. Barry and Monica Lucey are the ownersThis was FPAA's first paintout July 2011 and the Luceys are great supporter of our group. Arrive no sooner than 9am.

Directions : From the Walmart on Monocacy Blvd, off MD Rt 26, North of Frederick:

1 - Proceed east on Md Rt 26, Liberty Rd, towards Walkersville for 1.1 mile

2 - Bear left onto MD Rt 194, Woodsboro Pike for 7.0 miles

3 - Turn left onto MD Rt 550, Creagerstown Rd for 2.9 miles

4 - Turn right onto Pennterra Manor Lane, back toward river

5 - Turn left at stone gate and proceed down the lane to the house

6 - Park on right side of drive in front of the house, beyond the graveyard

    

     May 15th and 22nd Harpers FerryBolivar Height   ($5 admission fee)  

The website for Bolivar Height, a National Park is:….. http://www.nps.gov/resources/place.htm?id=105  Paula Rubin-Wexler has visited there and noted the beautiful vistas. If some want to explore other areas there is much to paint in Harpers Ferry. A point of gathering is the entrance to Bolivar Heights prior to paying a fee.  Park is open 8am to 5 pm

   1. Head down 15 S till  approximately 1.5 miles

   2. Bear Right for 340W continue through Virginia and entering West Virginia
      (19 miles)
   3 Right onto Washington Street
   4. Turn Left onto Whitman
   5. Whitman Ave becomes Prospect Ave.
   6. Destination 485 feet on right

LIBRARY SHOWS INFO AND GUIDELINES



May-July exhibits at Brunswick, Thurmont and Urbana libraries.





The shows will run from May 4 until July 31.  If a painting is sold the artist may hang another in its place but paintings are not to be removed to put in other shows.



Volunteers who have indicated an interest in planning a reception for the show(s) should work out plans with the curator for that show so that information can be included in publicity.Curators are Sharron Smih, Urbana; Paula Rubin-Wexler, Thurmont and Vicki Michael, Brunswick.



May 18 is a special art day for the libraries in recognition of the opening of the Brunswick gallery space.  It would be nice if more folks would be able to paint at the libraries and/or help with children’s activities. (The libraries have great spots for painting.)

Unsold paintings are to be retrieved  July 31, 10 am until noon. 
There will be a reception for the Brunswick Library Exhibit. This will be held in conjunction with the unveiling of their permanent collection (two paintings at this time) on May 17th from 7pm to 9pm. This ties in with their anniversary celebration on May 18th and the FCAA exhibit. All food/drinks/etc. are arranged so we only need to attend. RSVP to Vicki by May 10th.

If you are listed please be sure to get information to the appropriate curator by 4/12. Please follow guidelines below.


Guidelines:

     Artwork is to remain on view for the duration of the exhibit unless a painting is sold.  Artists may replace a sold painting with another one.  Unsold paintings must be picked up on July 31 at the indicated time.  (Brunswick 10 – noon, Thurmont 11-2, Urbana 10-1) Please contact the curator for your show if you need to make other arrangements.



·        The Delaplaine will insure the artwork from the time of delivery until the designated pick up time (for an amount not to exceed the sale price less commission.)  The Delaplaine will retain a 20% commission for members and 30% for non-members.  The Delaplaine will provide publicity about the shows and handle any sales.
